Roger and I took 4 of our children on a Cruise through the Caribbean-- Nov. 28, 2009 - Dec. 5, 2009. Below this post are some highlights from our Trip. It was really nice to have some quality time with our children...giving them our full attention!
There was food available 24/7 on the Ship. Whenever we couldn't find Spencer, we would go up to the Buffet and find him sitting by himself with a plate full of food. This happened so many times that it became one of our favorite topics to laugh about!
Virgin Gorda Beach on Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Megan didn't take to snorkeling very well. The boys, however, spent most of the afternoon belly down!
We hiked through the "Baths" in Virgin Gorda, on the Island of Tortla. The Baths are rock caves that fill up with water. The kids insisted on wearing shoes and socks... they quickly realized that that was a mistake and ended up carrying them to the Virgin Gorda Beach.
There are dogs EVERYWHERE in the Dominican Republic! Most of which are not healthy and in a very poor state. During our visit to one of the villages this Dog took a liking to Dillon. He tried feeding the dog some candy but found that she didn't like it. She did, however, like the coconut and mango samples that he was given.
Dominican Republic- Samana is a place that will make you feel blessed. Although happy, the people of Samana, opposite side of the mountain in Fiji, is very poor. The village that we visited relies upon tourists for their income. Megan is being escorted by one of the local girls, hand in hand, to a waterfall. After arriving, the girl expected to be paid. We bought a large bag of "Smarties" in Miami and distributed candy to the children that we passed while riding in our shuttle van.
The kids were never bored on the ship! Rock climbing, swimming, water slide, bowling, a 2 story WII screen, and all you can eat Ice Cream! What more do you need?
Poor Megan... Megan quickly realized that she doesn't have Sea Legs. She spent most days on the boat with her head down and praying we get to land soon.
Denver Airport waiting to fly to Miami for some much needed Rest & Relaxation in the Caribbean! This trip has been planned for months and the day has finally arrived. And...despite the close proximity, no one is fighting.
